How I Turned Fear and Confusion Into Clarity, Confidence, and Control.
When I was diagnosed with diabetes. I felt a mix of shame, guilt, fear and confusion. I blamed myself. I felt like I had failed and I didn't understand what was happening inside my own body.
Doctors gave me information, but not clarity. They told me what to avoid-but never taught me how to live.
I was scared of losing control, scared of medication and scared of what the future might look like.
But I refuse to stay in that place.
I studied, experimented, changed my habits, and rebuilt my health from the inside out. I lost more than 70 pounds, stabilized my blood sugar and transformed my entire lifestyle without giving up food, joy or cultural traditions that matter to me.
After 14 years of living with diabetes, I lowered my A1C to 5.5 through nutrition and lifestyle changes and was eventually released from endocrinology care.
